Summer Series: UK Bank Holiday Activities

Can you believe that the August bank holiday is coming up already? The end of the summer is almost here! Whether you just want a relaxing, low key extended weekend with your family or a final action packed long weekend, we have listed our top places to go as well as fun activities you can do at home! We’ve also got the weather covered too!

Want to get out of the house and it’s looking sunny outside?

Paultons Family Theme Park, Hampshire

If you have any Peppa Pig fans in your family, plus older kids who enjoy theme parks then a visit to Paultons Family Theme Park is great for all the family! There’s lots of fantastic family rides, plus you’ll get to meet Peppa herself! There’s also the new Tornado Springs opened with loads more rides and attractions too so, pack up the car and go!

Willows Activity Farm, Hertfordshire

Willows Activity Farm, is a brilliant day out. With farm animals, an indoor play barn, outdoor parks and just everything you could think of that the kids will enjoy. You’ll be shattered after a day here and Banjo HQ can thoroughly recommend going there to visit Santa here at Christmas time too. They make the farm so special all year round, it is definitely worth the road trip!

Lightwater Valley, Yorkshire

Up in Yorkshire, Lightwater Valley is another fantastic family friendly theme park! They have a Go Safari area, Jumping Kangaroos, climb aboard the Savanna Express and discover African wilderness and the new Treetop Trail too? The list is endless!

Check out our top theme parks blog here too!

Want to get out of the house but it’s looking like it’ll rain?

Silverstone Interactive Museum, Northamptonshire

Do your little ones LOVE cars? Then Silverstone Interactive Museum is the place for you! Get hands on with over 60 awesome exhibits and you can even climb into a replica of a Grand Prix car to sit behind the wheel! How cool is that?! You can also take a walk outside on the historic race circuit too!

Stratford Butterfly Farm, Stratford-Upon-Thames

The Stratford Butterfly Farm has hundreds of exotic butterflies and tropical insects so this is bound to help distract your little ones on a rainy day! They even have reptiles and the Discovery Zone is really educational too.

Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre, Devon

If you want to keep the kids occupied, then a few hours playing at the largest collection of working vintage fairground rides in Britain at Dingles is for you. There’s horses, ghost trains, coconut shy and lots of penny arcades as well as a lovely cafe too!

Legoland Discovery Centre, Manchester

This place is AMAZING. We don’t really know where to begin, there’s a 20 screen cinema nearby as well as lots of places to eat. There’s Kingdom Quest ride to the LEGO CITY Forest Pursuit driving adventure ride and lego everywhere you turn! The kids will not want to leave.

Check out other indoor activities you can do indoors this bank holiday here.

Don’t fancy leaving the house?

Film day

You deserve to have a day this bank holiday where you just sit and relax (well, as much as you can with kids!). Here are our top family films so, get comfortable as you will want to watch them again and again!

Cooking day with the kids

Grab your aprons, get those hands washed and cook together! Little Cooks have some fabulous recipes that you and your kids can do together. The Dairy-Free Chocolate Mousse is a particular favourite of ours at Banjo HQ!

Make your own comic

We’ve created a guide of how to make your own comic book here. Grab your pencils, paper and their amazing imagination and get creating!

Put on a play!

Why don’t you read together your little one’s favourite book and then act it out? This is hours of fun and, maybe even record it so they can view it afterwards?

Hopefully this blog will give you some ideas of things you can do over the bank holiday weekend! Please remember to check online if you need to book tickets for any of these activities too.

Lots of love, Banjo HQ x
