Mumsnet x Banjo Robinson

We recently partnered with Mumsnet to bring Banjo into the homes of 262 families! Testers received Banjo’s starter pack (a personalised introductory letter, map of the world, reply stationery, colouring in sheet and stickers) as well as a second pack from the next country on Banjo’s travels: Morocco. All of Banjo’s follow-on country packs include a personalised letter, stickers and stamps, reply stationery, country specific recipe card and interactive city map.

The cat that writes back!

If you haven’t heard of Banjo Robinson before- he’s the globe-trotting cat that writes back! Banjo sends children personalised letters and creative activities, twice a month, from the exciting countries that he visits. He sparks joy in learning, creating magical moments for children. He enhances children’s reading and writing skills, encouraging his pen pals to write back to him with the reply stationery included with his letters. Parents submit personalisation details after subscribing so each letter is peppered with personal details about the child. They can then also add a bespoke ‘PS’ message to the end of every letter that the child receives, creating a magical, reciprocal conversation between cat and child.

Mumsnet Feedback

The Cats at Banjo HQ are blown away by mumsnet testers responses.

88% said that they were satisfied with the service while 89% said they would recommend it to a friend or family member.

Some stand out comments we received include:

How was your child’s experience of receiving the personalised letter from Banjo? (mumcicle)

She loved it, she was so excited to receive mail, couldn’t wait to open it and reply. And then kept bothering our cat with requests to deliver her letters!

How was your child’s experience of receiving the personalised letter from Banjo? (blackleggingsandatshirt)

He loved it – his face lit up, and the fact he knew our cat’s name made him squeal with joy. He has never received a letter before, he was delighted with the trial.

She loved it – really excited to get her letters, and persisted with her reading where she normally gives up on harder words.

What stood out for you with Banjo Robinson? Delight and fun, educational benefits or anything else? (FloatOn)

My child is really not interested in writing or reading, he loves numbers but anything language related is a struggle. With this he really wanted to write back to Banjo and it was a fantastic learning tool especially with our current homeschooling.

It was so great to see my son taking the time to write and read without prompting. He really enjoyed writing his reply, it was also a joy to see his face light up on finding a letter especially for him.

What stood out for you with Banjo Robinson? Delight and fun, educational benefits or anything else? (narry)

Educational benefits. My son is a reluctant reader and writer as he’s a typical 5 yr old boy. This was something I could experience with him but leave him to try to write by himself too. He was absolutely elated when the second letter arrived and he had his question answered and there were other personal details. He truly believes this cat is his penpal.

Most Magical Reaction to Banjo

The fun didn’t stop there! We ran a ‘most magical reaction to Banjo’ contest with the mumsnet testers, encouraging parents to send us in short snippets of their children receiving their first or second Banjo letter. The result: priceless! We shortlisted our top 20 clips, which we then opened up to public vote, for the most magical reaction.

Arshan (6) was crowned the winner, but it was a pretty close race between all small and excitable entrants. You can see all of the entry videos here or watch our campaign round up video below.

Many of the mumsnet testers have continued their subscription to Banjo Robinson and are invaluable members of our Banjo community- regularly contributing to product research and development ideas. Many thanks to Mumsnet for allowing us the opportunity to connect with so many wonderful families and enabling Banjo to spread his magic a little further!
